    Sports Turf Canada’s goal is to advance the knowledge and education of sports turf professionals in Canada in the areas of synthetic sports turf field safety and maintenance. This Sports Turf Canada course will be of interest to those who manage or maintain synthetic sports turf and to those who wish to develop additional knowledge and skills in this subject matter.

    SCHEDULE

    8:00—10:00          Introduction to Synthetic Turf

    10:00—10:15        Break

    10:15—12:00        Synthetic Maintenance

    12:00—1:00          Lunch

    1:00—2:00            On Field Demonstration 

    2:00—3:00            Brief Test 

    This course includes a short test on the last day to ensure you received the information which was taught.  It is multiple choice.  Registrants are required to attend 100% of the class in order to write the test.  Those who achieve a passing grade of 60% will be provided a Certificate of Successful Completion for the course. Support is provided for those with learning challenges.

    CANCELLATION:

    A complete refund, less a $50 administrative fee, will be issued provided written notification of cancellation is received by Sports Turf Canada no later than 7 calendar days prior to the course start date.  Those who register but do not attend will not receive a refund.  If you are unable to attend, you may send a colleague in your place, provided written notification is provided in advance of the course.  A refund will occur if the course needs to be cancelled for reasons beyond our control, by Sports Turf Canada .  Any additional costs incurred by registrants will not be covered by Sports Turf Canada.  We reserve the right to cancel any course.

Led by Trevor Warner with the City of Woodstock, this on-field clinic isn't just about getting your hands dirty—it's about transforming your field into a game-winning masterpiece. From mound repair to turf mats, we'll cover it all with practical knowledge and know how. Secure your spot now!

    Includes:

    • mound repair on a daily & weekly basis
    • home plate maintenance on a daily & weekly basis
    • mowing the infield
    • edging the infield each month to keep it clean
    • setting up your infield layout with string lines and proper measurements
    • managing moisture on the mound
    • chalking the field for game day
    • daily grooming and different grooming patterns
    • using different conditioners and when to apply them
    • painting fair and foul lines in the outfield (depending on the day)
    • how to use hand tools and equipment effectively
    • why tarps matter and how to use them efficiently
    • what turf mats do and how they help the field
    • topdress infield turfgrass with light, frequent applications
    • pre-game & post-game requirements
    • monthly fertilizing (possible dependent on application)

    Learning Objectives:

    At the end of the Clinic, attendees will be able to: 

    1. Apply routine infield maintenance techniques
      Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks—including mound and home plate repair, grooming patterns, edging, and mowing—to maintain safe and playable field conditions.
    2. Demonstrate proper field setup and game preparation
      Accurately set up an infield using string lines and measurements, chalk and paint lines, and complete pre-game and post-game preparation requirements.
    3. Manage infield surface conditions effectively
      Assess and control moisture levels, apply conditioners appropriately, and understand the role of tarps and turf mats in protecting and optimizing field performance.
    4. Use tools, equipment, and materials efficiently
      Select and operate hand tools, equipment, and maintenance products efficiently.
    5. Evaluate and improve maintenance practices
      Identify common field maintenance challenges, exchange ideas with peers, and adopt proven best practices

     Note:  clinic covers natural grass infield and is relevant to those with skinned infield

        Our sports field training days are an opportunity to come out to the field, listen to experts who know best maintenance practices, talk to others who do what you do, meet the suppliers and see what products and services  they provide and watch as they demonstrate them for you.  And of course enjoy a great lunch during your training day.

        Natural Field Course

        The course will be of interest to those who manage or maintain sports turf or want to learn more about it, and those who wish to develop additional knowledge, past the fundamentals. The course offers a range of options to deal with issues such as restricted pesticide use, water use, common regional issues, limited equipment availability and how best to manage within limited financial resources.


        Synthetic Field Course

        This course explores the myth that artificial turf is low maintenance. It will be of interest to those who manage or maintain synthetic sports turf and for those who want additional knowledge of it’s maintenance requirements. Course includes an on-field demonstration of concepts learned in classroom, where possible. 

        Managing Your Infield Clinic

        Take advantage of this full day to experience infield maintenance demonstrated on a natural grass infield, with an infield expert.  An ideal event for hands-on,  applied learning and connecting with others in the industry, held on-field in Woodstock, Ontario.
