Sports Turf Management & Maintenance Course

TOPICS INCLUDED:

• Turf species and their uses, characteristics and benefits, emphasizing the latest and best varieties for particular uses
• Soils as a growth medium for turfgrass including soil fertility, soil water movement and management of soils for better athletic field performance
• Cultural practices which enhance and promote good turf and improved playing conditions
• Water management including sub-surface and surface drainage systems, irrigation practices and systems and the efficient use of water and weather information for managing improvements under water restrictions
• An overview of the identification, monitoring and control of weeds, insects, and diseases in sports turf
• Integrated pest management (IPM) programs to recognize and monitor infestations of weeds, insects, and diseases, to identify thresholds, to reduce pesticide use, and to utilize biological and cultural methods to control/reduce infestations
• Renovations and restoration methods for poorly performing fields and best practices which promote good conditions and improved maintenance practices
• Sports field construction including proper design, layout, orientation and the hidden aspects for good turf

The course is two (2) consecutive days length with 8.0 instructional hours for two days (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) which includes a 2-hour test on the final day.

This course includes reference material and participants will be awarded a Certificate of Successful Completion.

NS Sports Field Training Day

OUR DAY INCLUDES:

• Connecting with the suppliers and vendors who serve our industry
• Expert industry presentation: speaker to be confirmed shortly!
• Ability to meet other sports turf professionals who do what you do
• Exhibitor / supplier meet & greet
• Outdoor Supplier Showcase and Demonstrations on the Field which can include: line painting, various cultural practices (overseeding, aerating, etc), large equipment introductions, battery operated equipment viewing and more. Our imaginations will create! 

PROGRAM:

• 8:00am  Refreshments with Indoor Showcase
• 8:30am Welcoming Remarks
• 8:45am Educational Presentations Indoors by industry experts
• 12:00pm Lunch with Supplier Meet & Greet
• 1:00pm Outdoor Supplier Showcase and Demonstrations on the Field
• 2:30pm Thank you, it’s going to be a talked about day!

Synthetic Sports Turf Safety & Maintenance Course

TOPICS INCLUDE:

·        What is synthetic turf?

·        History of synthetic turf

·        Design of fields

·        How to identify your type of field

·        Installation and drainage understanding

·        Field safety best practices

·        Infill understanding

·        Equipment overview

·        Maintenance best practices and techniques

·        Troubleshooting common problems

The course is one day in length with 6.5 instructional hours (8:30 am to 3:00 pm) which includes a 1-hour test on the final day.

This course includes reference material and participants will be awarded a Certificate of Successful Completion.
